How to Play

The full loop, section by section. For role-specific detail, see the Role Encyclopedia.

1. Movement

Move with WASD or the arrow keys (or the on-screen joystick on mobile). Your vision is limited to a soft radius around you — walls and darkness hide the rest of the map.

2. Tasks

Operators are given a checklist of tasks scattered around the map. Walk up to a glowing yellow marker and press Use to open a short interactive minigame. Completing every assigned task across the crew wins the match for Operators.

3. Sabotage & Abilities

Shifters can eliminate nearby Operators, use maintenance vents, and trigger sabotages (lights, reactor, oxygen, comms, and more) from the Sabotage menu. Special roles on every faction get a unique ability shown in the bottom-right context menu.

4. Reporting a Body

Find a body? Walk up to it and press Report to call an emergency meeting for the whole crew. You can also press the Emergency Button in the central hub, a limited number of times per match.

5. Meetings & Voting

During discussion, share what you saw. When voting opens, click a player to vote for their ejection, or Skip. The player with the most votes is ejected — ties eject no one.

6. Echoes

Eliminated or ejected players become Echoes. Echoes can walk through walls and talk in a private ghost channel, but cannot vote, report, or speak to the living.

7. Factions

Operators want to finish tasks or identify every Shifter. Shifters want to eliminate Operators until they reach parity. Outliers (if enabled) chase their own independent win conditions — check your role card at the start of the match.

The fastest way to learn is to play a round against AI — they play by the same rules you do.
